Laura Leigh and Jake have the sweetest love story. They met in church, and dated eight years before Jake proposed. When we first met, Laura Leigh told us she’d been planning her wedding day since she was a little girl. We knew then that their wedding day was going to be something very special.
Laura Leigh & Jake chose The Magnolias, a lovely historic antebellum home in Aberdeen, Mississippi, as the backdrop for their photographs and the location of their Reception. The home couldn’t have been more perfect for their elegant Southern wedding.
Jake and his groomsmen hung out in the old kitchen house while the girls dressed upstairs in the main building. Both locations were a wedding photographer’s (and an amateur historian’s) dream!
The gardens of The Magnolias were absolutely beautiful. Huge old magnolias and oaks shaded the yard, and ivy covered the old brick buildings and walls.
The interior of The Magnolias is furnished with lovely period furniture, paintings, and rugs. The upstairs parlor is a PERFECT setting for a Bride and her attendants to finish their preparations.
Laura Leigh was absolutely glowing with happiness. Her mother, sister, and friends surrounded her with smiles and laughter.
I mean, Y’ALL. I can’t EVEN.
I loved the soft dusty mint color of the bridesmaids’ dresses.
Laura Leigh was absolutely stunning.
Laura Leigh and her precious Daddy had a First Look. He cried! I love it when daddies cry!
Y’all, it a typical Mississippi June day outside – HOT and humid! But Laura Leigh and Jake’s wedding party had such a positive attitude and didn’t mind stepping out into the heat for a few photographs.
Here’s a fun little group portrait before Laura Leigh & Jake had their First Look moment. Laura Leigh was so nervous that Jake would get a peek at her before he was supposed to!
Here’s Jake, waiting to see Laura Leigh for the first time.
They chose to have their First Look in the parlor. As they drew near to one another, a little Mississippi thundershower gently rolled by outside.
Y’all, it was a JOY to see the two of them together. Jake was so overcome with emotion when he saw his lovely bride!
Can you blame him?
Cream colored hydrangeas, white baby’s breath, and pale pink roses made a lovely, simple yet elegant bouquet.
Antebellum homes make such a gorgeous setting for bridal portraits!
After their First Look, we had a wonderful time taking photos of family and the wedding party.
The rain tapered off just in time for everyone to travel to the church, where friends and family were gathering. I love this photo of Laura Leigh as she dashed to her car – even though I was fighting lens fog!
The Church of Christ sanctuary in Aberdeen was beautifully decorated with ferns, flowers, candles, and rustic signs.
After the sweet ceremony, everyone joined Laura Leigh, Jake, and their families for a sunny reception at The Magnolias.
Jake had an Ice Cream bar instead of a Groom’s Cake. It was a BIG hit on such a hot day!
As their family and friends gathered nearby in the shade of the arbor, Laura Leigh and Jake had their First Dance by the fountain.
A precious photo of four generations of beautiful women.
This little guy couldn’t wait to send Laura Leigh and Jake away with a cloud of bubbles!
Laura Leigh and Jake, your wedding was so beautiful and so much fun to be a part of! We loved capturing the lovely moments of your summer wedding.
